Apple AI Team Departures & Future Plans Several senior members of Apple’s AI and foundation models teams have left, reportedly joining Meta Superintelligence Labs.  Key departures include Ke Yang (AI Search Head), Ruoming Pang (Head of Foundation Models), and Robby Walker (AI and Search).  These exits add uncertainty to Apple’s AI roadmap, including whether future Siri features will rely on in-house models or external AI. Currently, Siri is partially using ChatGPT for complex queries.  Apple’s delayed AI updates put it behind competitors, while its voice assistant market faces pressure from AI startups. Compared with the iPhone 16 during its first 10 days, the new model’s sales nearly doubled.  Counterpoint highlighted that the combination of performance improvements, display upgrades, and a better front camera contributed to the higher sales.  Early adopters in China seem particularly interested in the base model, which offers these upgrades while remaining at a similar price point as last year’s iPhone 16. iPhone 17 Early US Sales Beat Expectations In the United States, the iPhone 17 also showed stronger performance than the iPhone 16, with overall sales rising by 14% during the first 10 days.  The base model recorded a 31% increase in combined sales across China and the US, indicating that consumer interest is spread across both markets.  Analysts noted that the balance of price and feature improvements, including upgraded chips and higher base storage, may have played a role.  While exact unit numbers were not disclosed, the report suggests the iPhone 17 is off to a solid start globally. Several popular websites and apps, such as Snapchat, Canva, Robinhood, and PUBG, were hit by the disruption. The issue began around 12 pm IST, with user complaints flooding platforms like Down Detector.  AWS later confirmed that multiple services were facing increased error rates and latency in the US-EAST-1 region and said it was working to fix the problem and find the root cause. AWS Down: What Happened During The Global Outage According to AWS’s official status page, the outage caused “increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 Region.”  This also affected AWS Support systems and Case Creation tools. Later updates from the company said that services were showing signs of recovery, with most requests succeeding again.  However, AWS also noted that it was still working through a backlog of pending requests to restore normal performance. The main issue was reported in AWS DynamoDB, a database service that powers several online platforms.  Because of the outage in this region, global services relying on US-EAST-1, such as IAM updates and DynamoDB Global Tables, were also affected.  AWS said it continues to monitor the situation closely and will share further updates once the cause is fully identified. AWS Outage Impact On India & Global Users While the AWS outage began in the United States, its effects quickly spread worldwide. In India, several users experienced trouble accessing apps like Snapchat, Canva, PUBG, and Perplexity AI.  Data from Down Detector showed thousands of user reports from Indian cities soon after the issue began. Many platforms dependent on AWS servers saw delays or temporary downtime.  Although Amazon reported partial recovery later in the day, experts say this outage highlights how dependent global digital platforms are on cloud infrastructure like AWS.

The Indian benchmark indices registered significant gains on Diwali as the Sensex increased more than 400 points closing at 84,369, and the Nifty closed at 25,850, inching up over 140 points. On a sectoral basis, the Nifty Auto index declined by 0.16 per cent and the Nifty PSU Bank index jumped by 2.87b per cent. Previously, during early morning trade the Sensex opened 498 points higher at 84,451, and the Nifty opened higher by more than 190 points, at 25,899. Through the day, the Indian equity markets witnessed a bullish session on Monday as five major BSE Sensex stocks hit new all-time highs, including stocks like State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv. Indian equities ended the previous week on a strong note, with both key indices registering steady gains amid robust consumption trends as well as investor optimism. Foreign Funds & Q2 Earnings According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) purchased equities worth Rs 308.98 crore on Friday, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought shares valued at Rs 1,526.61 crore. Market experts said that sustained DII inflows, along with marginal FII participation and strong festive season sales across the automobile and consumer goods sectors, have reinforced investor optimism. “The momentum in the market, triggered by sustained huge DII buying, marginal FII buying, and news of brisk festival season sales of automobiles and white goods, is set to continue with more positive news. The early Q2 results indicate a sharp recovery in earnings. Results of HDFC Bank and RIL are particularly impressive,” said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services. Additionally, major companies such as HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries are reporting better-than-expected results, which is also boosting investor confidence.  Global Cues And Oil Prices Global sentiment remained broadly positive, with US markets ending in the green on Friday. Meanwhile, Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, edged down 0.36 per cent to $ 61.07 a barrel, offering relief for import-heavy economies like India.
