Diwali Muhurat Trading 2025: Best Stocks To Buy This Festive Season, Kotak Securities’ Top Picks Revealed

As Diwali lights up homes across India, the stock market too gears up for its most symbolic session of the year, Muhurat Trading 2025, which marks the beginning of Samvat 2082.  This auspicious occasion, steeped in tradition and optimism, is often viewed as a time for investors to make new beginnings and set the tone for their portfolios in the new Hindu calendar year. Leading brokerage Kotak Securities has unveiled its list of top stock recommendations for the new Samvat, reflecting cautious optimism and confidence in India’s growth narrative despite recent volatility. Samvat 2081: A Year Of Consolidation And Global Headwinds Indian markets had a subdued run in Samvat 2081, underperforming several global peers. The Nifty slipped to a low of 21,750 in March 2025, while the Sensex touched 71,500, both losing around 1.5 per cent during the period, the brokerage highlighted.  Midcap and smallcap indices fell even further, by roughly 5.6 per cent and 5.4 per cent, respectively. This underperformance came despite several positive developments, including easing inflation, lower crude prices, interest rate cuts by the RBI and US Federal Reserve, and the government’s tax rationalisation efforts.  However, persistent foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows, amounting to $27.3 billion (Rs 2.4 lakh crore), weighed heavily on sentiment. On the brighter side, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) infused nearly Rs 4.5 lakh crore, while retail investors maintained strong participation through systematic investment plans (SIPs), contributing Rs 1.37 lakh crore in the first half of FY26. Among sectors, Bank Nifty rose 7.2 per cent, while autos posted modest gains. In contrast, IT, FMCG, utilities, consumer durables, and real estate witnessed sharp declines, reflecting mixed corporate earnings and tariff uncertainties. Samvat 2082 Outlook: Optimism With A Cautious Tone Market experts believe that Samvat 2082 could usher in an earnings-led recovery, supported by structural reforms, GST 2.0, tax relief, and a conducive policy environment. “As we usher in Samvat 2082, optimism is gradually returning to Indian markets. The year gone by tested investor patience, but strong domestic fundamentals remain intact,” said Amisha Vora, Chairperson and Managing Director, PL Capital. She added that with India’s GDP projected to grow 6.8 per cent in FY26, valuations appear reasonable and earnings downgrades may have bottomed out, setting the stage for potential outperformance. Similarly, Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOFSL) remains positive on banking, capital markets, consumption, manufacturing, and digital sectors, noting that India continues to stand out as a macro-stable, liquidity-rich economy amid global headwinds. Stock Picks For Muhurat Trading 2025 Kotak Securities expects stabilising earnings and broad-based growth in FY27, forecasting Nifty 50 earnings to grow 18 per cent in FY27 and 14.3 per cent in FY28. While rich valuations could cap upside potential, analysts expect strong fundamentals to support market resilience. Here are Kotak’s top stock ideas for Samvat 2082 * Adani Ports & SEZ (Target: Rs 1,900 | Rating: Buy)  Kotak expects strong volume growth, especially from East Coast ports, and values the stock using a DCF and SoTP methodology. * Acutaas Chemicals (Target: Rs 1,780 | Rating: Buy)  A fast-growing player in pharma intermediates and specialty chemicals, expected to deliver 25 per cent revenue growth driven by margin expansion and new CDMO projects. * Cummins India (Target: Rs 4,400 | Rating: Add)  The company continues to expand in power generation and distribution, maintaining over 20 per cent margins and 14–15 per cent CAGR in revenue and profit. * Eternal (Target: Rs 375 | Rating: Buy)  With Blinkit’s rising market share and plans for EBITDA breakeven by H2FY26, Kotak projects an 83 per cent CAGR in consolidated revenue over FY25–28. * ICICI Bank (Target: Rs 1,700 | Rating: Buy)  Strong RoE of 18 per cent, broad-based loan growth, and robust asset quality make it one of the preferred picks in the BFSI space according to the brokerage. * Mahindra & Mahindra (Target: Rs 4,000 | Rating: Buy)  Kotak expects continued growth across tractors, SUVs, and LCV segments, supported by strong rural demand and improved profitability. * Reliance Industries (Target: Rs 1,555 | Rating: Add)  With plans to list its telecom arm by H1CY26 and ambitious expansion in FMCG and digital ventures, RIL is poised for long-term growth, the brokerage noted. As investors prepare for Muhurat Trading 2025, experts recommend maintaining a balanced approach, blending blue-chip stability with growth-oriented midcaps. With structural reforms, fiscal stimulus, and festive consumption tailwinds, Samvat 2082 may well mark the beginning of a more rewarding phase for Indian equities. World Osteoporosis Day 2025: 7 Expert Tips To Strengthen Bones, Prevent Fractures, And Maintain Healthy Skeleton

{By: Dr (Prof) Raju Vaishya} Our bones are the structure of our body they enable us to move, remain active, and live life independently. But just like everything else, bones also require attention and sustenance. On World Osteoporosis Day let us not forget that osteoporosis is an unseen disease that can happen to anyone, and prevention is always preferred over treatment. Healthy bones start with minor, daily habits. ALSO READ: Poor Eating Habits And Their Impact On Health: The Role Of Fat, Sugar, Salt And Preservative 1. Take Care Of Your Calcium And Vitamin D Intake Calcium is the main nutrient that makes your bones strong, and Vitamin D ensures that your body absorbs it properly. A 1000–1200 mg intake of calcium is what adults require, which can be achieved with milk products, ragi, nuts, leafy vegetables, and fortified foods. Exposure to the sun for 15–20 minutes increases natural Vitamin D levels. If your lifestyle or diet cannot provide these, consult your doctor regarding supplements to bridge the gap. 2. Keep Your Body Moving Regular physical movement helps you keep your bones strong and healthy. Weight-bearing activities such as walking quickly, climbing stairs, jogging slowly, or dancing stimulate cells that build bone. Incorporating resistance training or yoga enhances balance, posture, and flexibility lowering your risk of falls. Try to have at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week. Even small daily activities can help safeguard your bones and keep your joints healthy with age. 3. Quit Smoking And Drinking Alcohol Dietary and lifestyle choices play a significant role in bone health. Smoking lowers the level of calcium absorption by the body as well as disrupts the functioning of bone-building cells, causing bones to become weaker with time. Likewise, too much alcohol can decrease bone density and raise the risk of fractures. If you smoke, quitting is the best thing you can do for your health. If you drink, moderation is most important. 4. Be At A Healthy Weight Being either underweight or overweight can harm your bones. People who are underweight have lower bone mass, increasing fracture risk, while excess weight puts additional stress on joints and bones, leading to wear and tear. A balanced diet rich in nutrients, combined with regular exercise, supports healthy bone metabolism. Maintaining a stable weight not only benefits your bones but also improves heart, joint, and overall health in the long run. 5. Don't Wait — Get Your Bone Health Checked Osteoporosis builds up slowly over the years and may be undetected until a fracture occurs. Early screening is important, so women aged 50 and above and men aged 65 and above should talk to their physician about bone density tests. Individuals with risk factors including a history of osteoporosis in the family, premature menopause, or prolonged use of certain medications may be screened earlier. Early detection leads to early intervention and improved outcomes. 6. Fall-Proof Your Home A majority of osteoporosis-induced fractures result from avoidable falls within the home. Small modifications such as enhanced lighting, unobstructed pathways, the application of anti-slip mats, and the installation of grab bars in the bathroom go a long way in preventing it. Periodic balance and coordination training such as tai chi or yoga ensures greater stability. Vision tests and supportive shoes further minimize the risk of falls, enabling older persons to remain independent and safe in their daily activities. 7. Adhere To Medical Guidance If Diagnosed If you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, don't forget it can be controlled. You can maintain a healthy and productive life with proper treatment and lifestyle modifications. Prescription drugs can slow bone loss and decrease the risk of fractures. Adhere to prescribed medication as recommended and check in regularly with your physician. The combination of medical attention with proper nutrition and physical exercise can rebuild your strength and guard your bones in the long run. Bone health is not just a medical concern it’s a quality-of-life issue. By making small, consistent changes in your lifestyle today, you can reduce your risk of osteoporosis tomorrow. This World Osteoporosis Day, let’s make bone care a lifelong habit. Whether you’re 25 or 65, your bones deserve attention, nourishment, and care. ‘Indians Don’t Feel Safe In Canada’: Envoy Flags Security Concerns Over Khalistanis, Calls It ‘Canadian Problem’

India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Dinesh K Patnaik, has voiced serious concerns about the safety of Indian nationals in the country, while simultaneously crediting Canada’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney for steering bilateral ties back towards normalcy after a period of unprecedented strain. In an interview with CTV News, Patnaik said he found it “unusual” that a high commissioner should require security protection in a country like Canada. “Canada cannot look at this situation as an Indian problem. It’s a Canadian problem. There are Canadians who are creating this problem,” he said, adding that Indian nationals currently “don’t feel safe” there. Without directly naming pro-Khalistan extremist groups, the envoy said there were “security scenarios where there is a group of people who are actually terrorizing, keeping the relationship under hostage… how do we deal with them? How do we deal with the law-and-order situation?”. His comments come amid a reported surge in the number of Indians leaving Canada over safety concerns and growing instances of hate-motivated incidents involving the Indian community. Envoy Patnaik credits Canadian PM Mark Carney for restoring normalcy In the same interview, Patnaik acknowledged that relations between New Delhi and Ottawa had been on a downward spiral since former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegations linking Indian agents to the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia. He dismissed Trudeau’s claims as “preposterous and absurd”, saying they lacked any substantial evidence. “What we needed was dialogue to be able to talk to each other, not make allegations in the press without proof,” Patnaik told CTV’s Question Period. The envoy, however, credited the new leadership in Ottawa for resetting the tone of the bilateral relationship. “We might have been here a little earlier or later. You can’t keep two large countries apart for long,” he said. “The revival of the High Commission was inevitable, it just took some time. Donald Trump played a role, but I think it’s your new Prime Minister Mark Carney who played a very big role in getting things back to normal.” ‘Relationship good but can be much better’: Envoy Patnaik According to Patnaik, the two nations are now in a phase of rebuilding trust. “Security agencies are talking to each other, there’s dialogue between the RCMP and the NIA, and both our NSAs have met. The process of rebuilding the relationship is underway,” he said. Following Carney’s invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, India and Canada have resumed ministerial-level talks. Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand visited India recently, with both sides issuing a joint statement affirming their intent to expand cooperation in trade and security. India’s concerns about Lawrence Bishnoi gang Patnaik also noted India’s concerns about the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which operates across both countries and has been proscribed by New Delhi. He emphasised the need for stronger internal security collaboration to address cross-border criminal activity. When asked whether India now considers Canada a “reliable partner”, the envoy replied, “Not yet.” He expressed hope that Canada could become dependable in the future, provided “extraneous factors should not interfere with economic activities.” “Right now, the relationship between the two countries is good, and can be much better. The initial steps have been taken,” Patnaik added, describing the reopening of embassies and renewed dialogue as signs of a positive new chapter.
