Maruti Suzuki Bets Big On Small Cars, SUVs, And EVs Amid Sales Boom

Maruti Suzuki has posted its highest ever sales and also declared its highest ever dividend too. The carmaker which continues to lead the Indian market sold 19,74,939 units in India while net profit, sales growth has been robust with GST cuts propelling small car sales and giving a push. However, net profit for Q4 has been lower than Q3 FY 2026 with rising costs affecting profit. Sales though have jumped with the carmaker registering its highest-ever quarterly sales in Q4FY26 at 676,209 units. Also Read : Can JSW Motors Challenge Toyota, Mahindra In India’s SUV Battle? Capacity, Investment and Future Plans The carmaker is also fully using its production capacity while future growth is based on that with capacity being a restraint here. To meet demand the carmaker has commissioned new production lines and will invest heavily as well in this current fiscal. The talking point is the fact that Maruti Suzuki will continue to invest in new cars in both the small car segment and SUVs. Maruti Suzuki will bring new hatchbacks including new versions of its current small cars as well as facelifted versions of the Brezza, Fronx hybrid and more. It will bring numerous SUVs across the next few years across different segments ranging from the micro SUVs to the above 4m segment. The Victoris currently has added to Maruti's compact SUV market share. The e Vitara is its first electric SUV and was launched recently. The carmaker will also launch new EVs with a possible electric MPV coming soon which will add to the e Vitara. We can expect the new Brezza to be launched soon for now. ABP Live Doc Talk: Yellow Eyes, Dry Eyes, Blurry Vision: Are They Signs Of A Deeper Liver Issue? Know Here

Most people who visit an eye clinic for yellowing eyes, persistent dryness or a blurriness that glasses are not fixing do not arrive expecting a conversation about their liver. But ophthalmologists increasingly see cases where the eye is not the origin of the problem, but it is the messenger. The liver, one of the body's most silent organs, tends to announce its distress indirectly. And some of its most consistent early signals show up not in blood tests, but in what you see when you look in the mirror. ALSO READ: ABP Live Doc Talk | Screen Time Impacts Sleep, Behaviour And Communication In Autistic Children Yellow Eyes: The Earliest Warning Sign Of Liver Trouble Jaundice is the most recognised. When the liver is unable to process bilirubin -- a yellow pigment produced when red blood cells break down, it accumulates in the blood and stains tissues. The whites of the eyes, called the sclera, are particularly sensitive to this staining. They turn yellow before the skin does, making them the earliest visible indicator of elevated bilirubin levels. This yellowing is not a minor cosmetic issue. It signals that liver function has been compromised by hepatitis, alcohol-related damage, a blocked bile duct, or in some cases, more serious underlying disease. It is a symptom that should never be waited out or explained away. Your Dry Eyes May Not Just Be An Eye Problem Dry eyes are less immediately associated with liver health, but the connection is real and clinically documented. The liver plays a central role in the metabolism of fat-soluble vitamins particularly Vitamin A, which is essential for the production of tear film and the maintenance of the conjunctival and corneal surface. When chronic liver disease impairs Vitamin A metabolism, the tear-producing cells do not receive the signal they need. The eyes become chronically dry: gritty, light-sensitive, uncomfortable in air-conditioned environments and slow to recover after screen exposure. People in this state often cycle through artificial tear drops and lubricants without any lasting improvement, because the problem is systemic, not local. Blurred Vision And Liver Health Blurry vision adds a third dimension to this story. Prolonged Vitamin A deficiency which liver disease can drive even in people eating an adequate diet affects the rod photoreceptors responsible for vision in low light. Night blindness is often the first functional symptom. But beyond that, poor Vitamin A levels affect the overall quality of the ocular surface, contributing to visual disturbance that fluctuates across the day and does not resolve with a change in spectacle prescription. In some cases, elevated blood sugar levels secondary to liver disease add further complexity by affecting the crystalline lens and producing refractive changes that seem to shift unpredictably. ALSO READ: ABP Live Doc Talk | Understanding Ocular Tuberculosis: The Hidden Eye Condition You Might Be Ignoring The Eye-Liver Connection There are other ocular signs worth knowing. Xanthelasmas; flat, yellowish fatty deposits that appear on the eyelids near the inner corners are associated with elevated cholesterol, which is often a feature of liver dysfunction. Kayser-Fleischer rings, copper-coloured deposits visible in the outer rim of the cornea, are a specific marker of Wilson's disease, a genetic liver condition. And pale or bloodshot conjunctiva can reflect the anaemia that chronic liver disease frequently produces. Each of these, seen by a trained eye, tells a story about what is happening elsewhere in the body. The clinical lesson in all of this is straightforward. The eye and the liver are not separate systems operating independently. They are connected through the body's metabolic, nutritional and circulatory pathways, and disturbance in one will eventually register in the other. For patients, the takeaway is to take ocular symptoms seriously enough to investigate them fully not just with an optician's test, but with blood work and a conversation about organ health. For clinicians, it is a reminder that what presents as an eye complaint may be asking a question that a different specialist needs to answer. The eyes, in this sense, are not just windows to the soul. They are windows to the liver. Honda City Facelift To Pack More Features, Launch Soon

Honda is bringing an updated version of its City midsize sedan in India. The City facelift will be a small update and not a big change but will bring new features to the table. We expect the Honda City facelift to get a new bumper design, headlamps, alloys and tail-lamps while the dimensions will remain the same. Features and Powertrain Details The talking point would be the more premium interiors where more features would be added including a 360 degree camera, powered drivers seat, a full digital instrument cluster and a larger touchscreen infotainment system with more features. Space and comfort will remain the same since this is a facelift. The City facelift will also retain its current lineup of engines including a 1.5l petrol with manual and CVT options plus a hybrid powertrain which is automatic. Also Read : Can JSW Motors Challenge Toyota, Mahindra In India’s SUV Battle? Competition and Market Position This will be a much needed push for the City brand in India as it faces competition from the likes of the Volkswagen Virtus, new Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia. The City in its current generation form has been under competition from SUVs which are more popular plus the rising demand for the Virtus and the Slavia. The new City with more features aims to bring back some of the appeal to this midsize sedan in India. Pricing and Variants We expect prices to increase for the new City facelift although it would not be too much owing to the changes. The variants of the new City facelift would also be changed, we think with more features being given to the lower variants. Rajasthan Royals Captain Riyan Parag Caught Vaping: A Look At Its Health Risks And Lasting Effects

A brief moment from the IPL clash between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings has unexpectedly taken center stage online. Not a match-winning shot or a dramatic wicket, but a clip showing Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag in the dressing room has caught widespread attention. In the now-viral footage, Parag appears to be vaping at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, triggering a wave of reactions across social media. ALSO READ: Manage UTI Symptoms: Easy Remedies And Prevention Tips That Actually Work What Vaping Actually Does to the Body Despite its reputation, vaping exposes users to a mix of harmful substances. The aerosol inhaled isn’t just harmless vapor, it can contain nicotine, toxic chemicals, and even traces of heavy metals. These elements can quietly impact the body over time, affecting the lungs, heart, and even brain function. Nicotine, a key component in most vaping products, is particularly concerning. Highly addictive, it can quickly create dependency, making it difficult for users to quit once they start. In some cases, vapes deliver higher doses of nicotine than traditional cigarettes, intensifying that risk. ALSO READ: India Becomes World's Second Favourite Destination For Non-Surgical Skin Fixes, But Why? The Hidden Dangers Behind This Unlike conventional cigarettes, vaping doesn’t involve burning tobacco, but that doesn’t make it safe. The process heats chemicals to high temperatures, producing compounds that can be just as harmful, if not more. These substances can penetrate deep into the lungs, reaching delicate air sacs and potentially causing long-term damage. Research has also linked vaping to serious lung injuries, with some cases requiring hospitalisation. Certain additives and compounds have been associated with severe respiratory issues, raising questions about the long-term safety of these devices. There’s also growing evidence suggesting that vaping can impact heart health. Even at rest, it may reduce blood flow to the heart, an effect that could have broader implications over time. Content creator and cricketer Lakhan Arjun Rawat has alleged that his cook was caught “spitting” while preparing food meant for the family. The matter came to light after family members reportedly fell ill over the past few days. This led them to review CCTV footage. According to the family, the footage shows the cook spitting into the sink while working in the kitchen. They claim the droplets could have contaminated the food being prepared. A video of the family confronting the cook and CCTV footage of him spitting in the sink have since gone viral on social media. However, she alleged that the mask was often kept below his mouth while he cooked for the family. Family Raises Health Concerns Rawat’s mother also expressed concern about the family’s recent health issues, saying several members had been unwell with fever and other symptoms. “And we have all been falling sick repeatedly. We are not recovering at all. There’s fever and everyone’s health is not improving.” She alleged that the cook may have been preparing food in unhygienic conditions for days. Or is it limited to social media?” Another wrote, “If this is true, it’s disgusting and should be punishable.” “It has been happening forever!!! Ghar ka kaam and khaana all I do it myself. Both these husband n wife are not getting enough views now so these tactics,” yet another social media user said.  A seventh added, “I don’t know how much we should trust these YouTubers, they do anything to increase views!! Agar police main report nahin kar rahe to video banae ki kya zarurat thi and they have multiple maids & servants working in the kitchen itself no one noticed or reported in last 5 months??”

Can JSW Motors Challenge Toyota, Mahindra In India’s SUV Battle?

JSW Motors is due for launch soon in a few months time and while the launch is nearing, JSW Motors is readying its arsenal of new products. These new products would be from the Chery stables which is a Chinese giant with various brands. JSW Motors will bring what's suitable and cherry pick the cars. SUV-Only Strategy and Rivals The big question is whether the brand has what it takes to rival Toyota and Mahindra. Both Toyota and Mahindra are SUV focussed brands- Mahindra more so as it does not sell anything else. JSW Motors will only make SUVs as well and won't sell anything else. Its first product would be a premium plug-in hybrid SUV which is the Jetour T2 and it will be a Fortuner rival while later products would target the mass premium space with the iCaur V3, Jaecoo J5 and more. JSW Motors will go the top down approach but while the brand is new, the technology is proven and from a global perspective brings cars which are on sale in other markets too. Challenges and Market Positioning Hence, for JSW to be successful offering tech loaded cars at an attractive price plus looking at the after sales experience is also important. As we move higher up, reliability, resale and other factors are there too which explains why the Fortuner sells so much despite not really offering much in terms of features. Mahindra would be a bigger rival with tech loaded EVs and the price war it is playing- something JSW will also have to do. However, for now, looking at the products, JSW Motors has what it takes to gatecrash the SUV party.

The platform remains the same but the styling is new with updated bumper designs. People see these fixes as everyday self-care, not taboos. Urban folks crave quick, safe ways to fight ageing, pigmentation, and dull skin. What's driving this boom?   The Shift To Non-Invasive Skincare The Indian skincare market is undergoing a big change in beauty and ageing approaches, as shared by Dr. Keerthana Kalva, MBBS, MD, DVL, Chief aesthetic dermatologist at Inform Clinics*. Are Your Gym Clothes Hiding “Forever Chemicals”? The Truth About Activewear Safety

You slip on your favourite leggings and sports bra, head to the gym, and push your body to get healthier, only to wonder later if your activewear might be silently working against you. New reports from the United States suggest that “forever chemicals” known as PFAS may be hiding in some gym wear, raising questions about how safe our tight, sweat‑wicking clothes really are, as News18 explains.   What Are Forever Chemicals? The  “forever chemicals” refer to a group of man‑made compounds called per‑ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are very strong and do not break down easily in the environment or the body. These chemicals are often added to fabrics to make them water‑repellent, stain‑resistant, and less smelly. “PFAS are very strong and have been linked to problems with our hormones, immune system, thyroid and even some types of cancer,” the report quotes an expert.   ALSO READ | Swipe Right On Trends: 'Baddie' Usage Up 5X, 'Paglu' 40X Since 2025 What's Concerning In Gym Wear? News18 highlights that many gym outfits are made from synthetic materials like polyester, nylon, and spandex, which are treated with PFAS and other additives to keep them stretchy and sweat‑wicking. When we sweat heavily, these chemicals can leach out and may be absorbed through the skin. “Some of these chemicals are being closely looked at,” the article notes, adding that repeated exposure from multiple sources can build up in the body over time.   ALSO READ | Genelia Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji Promotional Look Is A Love Letter To Maharashtra’s Rich Textiles | See PICS  Expert Views And What you can do Indian experts cited in the piece say that while the risk from a single pair of leggings or sports bra is likely low, the bigger worry is lifelong exposure from many products. It advises readers to look for labels that mention “PFAS‑free” or “fluorine‑free,” wash new gym wear before first use, and choose breathable, less synthetic fabrics when possible. The functionality that PFAS provides, a more stain‑resistant coat or more breathable yet water‑resistant gym shorts, is not necessary and certainly not worth the health risks, a cited expert says, calling for stricter rules and clearer labelling on activewear.

China’s Plastic-Eating Extreme Weight Loss Explained: Experts Raise Health Alarms

A bizarre weight loss trend from China is going viral, where people chew food wrapped in plastic and spit it out to trick their brains into feeling full without calories. It promises quick results but experts warn it's dangerous, exposing users to microplastics and health risks. Social media fuels this extreme fad, but is it worth the harm to body and mind?   What Is The Plastic-Eating Trend? People in China place a thin piece of plastic in their mouths before adding food. They chew it for a while, then remove it with the plastic instead of swallowing, aiming to feel satisfied without eating calories. This method tricks the brain into thinking a meal has happened, but it means no real nutrients reach the body.  In China, some people use plastic wrap to trick their brains into feeling full without eating, a diet trend. Tamil Nadu Elections: Students Build Robot To Spread Voter Awareness On Poll Day

Students in Coimbatore have found a creative way to draw attention to voting day. Instead of regular awareness campaigns, they built a robot that greets people and even hands out sweets to encourage them to cast their vote. The idea blends technology with civic responsibility, making the message more engaging for the public. With elections often struggling to attract full participation, such efforts show how innovation at the grassroots level can make a difference in reminding people of their role in democracy. How Did The Coimbatore Students Use A Robot To Promote Voting? The robot was developed by students of Government Arts College using voice processing and radio control technology. It interacts with voters by sharing simple instructions like standing in a queue and explaining how to cast a vote. According to student Vimal Vijayan, the aim was clear: increase participation. #WATCH | Tamil Nadu Elections 2026 | Coimbatore: At Government Arts College, a robot whose voice processing and RC control model was developed by a student of the same college, greets voters and offers them sweets. pic.twitter.com/pNb3oJPQjl — ANI (@ANI) April 23, 2026 "Today is election day for Tamil Nadu.
