Top 3 Chennai Super Kings Players Who Could Be Released Before IPL 2026 Auction

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the joint-best franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in terms of winning trophies. They, along with the Mumbai Indians (MI) have 5 titles to their name so far. However, the 2025 edition of the popular Indian T20 league was one to forget for CSK. They finished right at the bottom of the table, at the 10th position, well below the expectations and usual standards.  Naturally, an overhaul is expected in the next player auctions, leading up to IPPL 2026. While nothing has been revealed officially just yet, let's look at the top 3 players who could be released by CSK. IPL 2026 auctions: Who all could CSK release? 1) Rahul Tripathi Rahul Tripathi had his worst year in the IPL, by far in 2025, scoring just 55 runs in 5 matches. The top/middle order batsman was unable to deliver for the Chennai-based team in times of need, which was on most occassions in the last edition. So, it wouldn't be surprising if he is axed from the squad ahead of the 2026 auctions. 2) Sam Curran Sam Curran has made a name for himself as a dependable all-rounder in cricket, but was far from his best while representing CSK last year.  He played 5 matches, scoring 114 runs and taking 1 wicket. The 5-time IPL winners might, hence, look to replace him with another handy overseas player next year. 3) Rachin Ravindra Speaking of overseas players, New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra, too, had a rather disappointing run in IPL 2025 for the Chennai Super Kings, managing to score only 191 runs in 8 matches. He also isn't having a great time in England's The Hundred cricket league, having faced 45 balls so far across 4 matches, and scoring just 91 runs so far. He has an average close to 30 and plays with a strike rate of 142.13. Seifert has all the potential to leave a lasting impact in the next IPL, if he goes under the hammer, as an opening or top-order batsman. Honourable Mention England veteran Ben Stokes has been out of action from the IPL for quite some time now. He last played a match in 2023 for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Indian Student In US Shot Dead At Texas Gas Station

A 27-year-old Indian student from Hyderabad, Chandrashekar Pole, was shot dead on the night of October 3, 2025, while working at a gas station in Denton, Texas. The victim, Chandrashekar, had completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in Hyderabad before moving to the United States in 2023 to pursue a Master’s in Data Analytics at the University of North Texas, Dallas. He completed his degree six months ago and was working part-time at the gas station while searching for full-time employment to support his stay in the U.S. Following the incident, Chandrashekar's family in Hyderabad requested assistance from the Indian government for repatriation of his body. BRS MLA T Harish Rao visited the grieving family, expressing condolences and urging the Telangana government to facilitate the return of Chandrashekar's remains. Rao described the incident as “tragic” and called for all necessary support from the authorities to ensure a smooth repatriation process. The Denton Police Department is actively investigating the shooting. Authorities have not released further details regarding potential suspects or the motive behind the attack. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of international students and part-time workers in the U.S., highlighting the risks associated with late-night employment. This is the second reported killing of an Indian national in Texas within a month. In September 2025, Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old Indian-origin motel manager, was killed in Dallas following a dispute.

Govt Probes E-Commerce Platforms Over Extra Charges On Cash On Delivery Orders

The government has launched a formal investigation into e-commerce platforms accused of imposing extra charges on Cash-on-Delivery (COD) orders, describing the practice as a “dark pattern” designed to mislead and exploit consumers. Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi confirmed the move on 3 October, by taking to posting on the social media platform X, “The Department of Consumer Affairs has received complaints against e-commerce platforms charging extra for Cash-on-Delivery, a practice classified as a dark pattern that misleads and exploits consumers. A detailed investigation has been initiated and steps are being taken to scrutinise these platforms closely. Strict action will be taken against those violating consumer rights to ensure transparency and uphold fair practices in India’s growing e-commerce sector.” The decision comes as authorities intensify scrutiny of manipulative digital practices that can distort user behaviour and erode trust in online commerce. What Triggered The Probe? The inquiry follows a spate of consumer complaints earlier this year after some e-commerce players introduced so-called “cash handling fees” on COD orders. One case involving quick-commerce platform Zepto drew significant attention in July, when users highlighted the charges on social media and criticised the lack of transparency at checkout. Such fees may fall under “drip pricing”, one of 13 dark patterns officially recognised under Indian law, and therefore require closer examination. What Are Dark Patterns? Dark patterns are design tricks embedded in digital platforms that nudge users into decisions favourable to companies, often at the cost of clarity and fairness. These tactics can include confusing interfaces, hidden charges, or misleading prompts that push customers into spending more, disclosing personal data, or accepting terms unknowingly. Examples range from last-minute delivery fees and pre-ticked consent boxes to false urgency messages such as “only one item left”. In November 2023, the Consumer Affairs Department formally designated 13 such practices — including drip pricing, false urgency, bait-and-switch, confirm shaming, subscription traps, disguised ads and forced action — as unfair trade practices under the Consumer Protection Act. The issue is widespread. A 2024 report by the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) found that 52 of the 53 most downloaded apps in the country deployed at least one dark pattern, particularly in e-commerce, fintech and online gaming. According to the ASCI, these are not accidental glitches but deliberate features built into app design, making them difficult for users to identify until after transactions are completed. Government’s Wider Crackdown The probe into COD charges forms part of a broader push to curb deceptive digital practices. On 28 May, the Consumer Affairs Ministry convened a high-level meeting with leading e-commerce firms, directing them to conduct internal audits of their user interfaces and publish findings on compliance with 2023 guidelines. Officials also floated the creation of a joint working group of government and industry representatives to address evolving challenges. In the COD probe, authorities will review platform practices, collect consumer testimonies, and scrutinise when and how such charges were disclosed during the purchase process. What Is Next? If platforms are found in violation, they could face penalties under the Consumer Protection Act, alongside directives to alter interface designs or adopt clearer disclosure norms. The outcome will be closely watched, as COD remains one of India’s most widely used payment modes, particularly beyond urban centres. The ministry’s intervention signals that digital design choices and fee structures will increasingly be held to the same regulatory standards as advertising claims and pricing transparency.
