8 Common Acne Myths You Need To Stop Believing

(By Dr. Prashant Agrawal) One of the most frequent skin concerns, but also the most misunderstood, is acne. In age-old wives' tales as well as fast remedies, myths about acne travel faster than wildfire, versus the actual disease itself. To clear them up, below are some frequent acne myths, busted by a dermatologist. ALSO READ: Breathe Easy This October: Smart Ways To Keep Allergies At Bay Common Myths About Acne: Myth 1: Acne only happens in teenagersFact: Acne not only happens during teenage years. Adult acne is now on the rise due to stress, hormonal imbalance, pollution, and lifestyle. Acne breakouts occur among young adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, too. Myth 2: Fried foods cause acneFact: Good skin health does have to do with one’s diet, but eating chocolate or dried food items will not cause acne directly. The deeper concern is the high-glycemic foods (wheat breads, sweets, sodas) that raise insulin levels and induce acne. Myth 3: Acne occurs because the skin becomes dirtyFact: Acne isn't caused just because the skin is dirty. Instead, over-washing dries the skin,  which makes breakouts worse. Acne happens mostly due to clogged pores, accumulation of overproduction of too much oil, and bacteria, not dirt. Use a gentle cleanser to wash your face. Myth 4: Acne gets zapped byFact: The sun dries up acne in the short term, but long-term aggravates acne by encouraging further oil as well as acne after-discolorations. Always ensure that you wear a dermatologist-recommended sunscreen at all times. Myth 5: Makeup contributes to acneFact: Not all cosmetics are enemies of acne. Skincare products that are acne-compatible, oil-free, and non-comedogenic won't clog pores. It's all about taking out makeup and not keeping it for a prolonged period. Myth 6: Acne will go away with timeFact: Sometimes the spots also disappear with time, but without intervention, acne could cause scarring as well as discoloration. Treatment at the appropriate time by a dermatologist prevents scarring for the long term, as well as enhances confidence in skin. Myth 7: Popping pimples will heal them soonerFact: Popping pimples embeds the bacteria deeper in the skin, leading to more swelling, scarring, and slower healing. Hands off - leave extractions for your dermatologist. Myth 8: DIY Natural Remedies Always WorkFact: Although aloe vera or honey soothes the skin, most at-home tricks (like lemon juice, toothpaste, or exfoliating scrubs) can actually aggravate acne. Science-backed treatments will forever be a safer option. Drug Controller Orders Nationwide Crackdown After MP Cough Syrup Deaths, IMA Protests Doctor’s Arrest

After the tragic deaths of 20 children in Madhya Pradesh linked to contaminated cough syrup, India’s top drug regulator has directed all states and Union Territories to step up testing and monitoring of medicines before they reach the market. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) on Wednesday issued fresh instructions to state drug controllers, stressing strict compliance with existing rules for testing raw materials and finished pharmaceutical products. The move follows reports from Chhindwara, where children who consumed Coldrif cough syrup suffered acute kidney failure, leading to multiple fatalities. CDSCO Issues Fresh Directive In its order, the CDSCO highlighted that under the Drugs Rules, particularly Rule 74(c) and Rule 78(c)(ii), license holders must ensure that every batch of raw material and final product is tested in approved laboratories, with proper records maintained as per Schedule U. The regulator asked state authorities to enforce compliance through inspections and circulars, while also ensuring that pharmaceutical companies adopt robust vendor qualification systems and procure raw materials only from trusted, authorised suppliers. IMA Slams Arrest of Paediatrician Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has raised objections to the arrest of a senior paediatrician in connection with the case, calling for urgent systemic reforms in drug quality monitoring instead of scapegoating doctors. Dr Pravin Soni, a government paediatrician who also runs a private clinic in Parasia town, was arrested on Saturday night following an FIR filed by local health officer Dr Ankit Sallam. The complaint also named the Tamil Nadu-based manufacturer of Coldrif syrup. Two other doctors, Dr Amit Thakur and Dr Aman Siddiqui, have been listed in the seven-page FIR lodged at Parasia police station. The FIR invokes Sections 105 and 276 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and drug adulteration, along with Section 27A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, which covers the sale and manufacture of spurious medicines. The charges carry penalties ranging from 10 years in prison to life imprisonment.

Amid Rising Scams, ED Says No Concept Of Digital Arrests Under Prevention Of Money Laundering Act

New Delhi: There is no concept of digital or online arrest under the anti-money laundering law and the ED undertakes such a procedure only in person, the federal probe agency said on Wednesday. The reiteration by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) comes in the backdrop of rising instances of 'digital arrest', a cyber crime where criminals cheat people by calling them over an online messaging platform and seek money in return. "It is reiterated that arrests made by the ED are done after following due procedure and are done physically in person. "There is no concept of digital arrest or online arrest under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002," the ED said. The ED also implements the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) but being a civil law, there are no provisions for the arrest of a person. The ED has in the past issued such an advisory against digital arrests and fake summons but it issued a latest statement saying it was doing it again after it noticed "multiple instances wherein certain unscrupulous persons (conman) have sent summons to individuals with the motive of cheating or extortion". "These fake summons are often similar to the genuine summons issued by ED and hence, it is difficult for the individuals to distinguish between the fake and genuine summons," it said. The agency issues summons or notices calling individuals to depose before it for questioning under the criminal Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The agency said in order to provide individuals a facility to verify the authenticity of the summons received by them from the ED, it has implemented a mechanism of generating summons through the system which bears a QR code and a unique passcode at the bottom of the summons document. "Officials of the ED have been instructed to issue summons only through the system except in certain exceptional circumstances. "It may also be noted that the summons generated from the system shall be duly signed and stamped by the official issuing the summons and shall also contain his/her official email id and the phone number for correspondence purposes," the ED said. The authenticity of the summons can be verified on the official website of the agency -- https://enforcementdirectorate.gov.in -- 24 hours after the issuing date (excluding public holidays, Saturdays and Sundays), it said. In case of summons not generated by the system individuals can contact a designated official-- Assistant Director Rahul Verma-- at his office located in the ED headquarters at A Block, Pravartan Bhawan, APJ Kalam Road, New Delhi -110011. The officer can also be contacted through his official email ID-- adinv2-ed[at]gov[dot]in-- and landline no- 011-23339172, the statement said.  (This report has been published as part of the auto-generated syndicate wire feed. Breast Self-examination (BSE): A Guide To BSE Testing, Its Importance, And How To Do It

{By: Dr Rohan Khandelwal} Globally, breast cancer (BC) is the most detected neoplasm in women. Breast self-examination (BSE) is an effective screening technique that enables women to learn about the composition of their breasts and assist in the early identification of any potential breast abnormalities . Breast cancer is a very commonly discovered cancer among women globally. Projected to reach 2.3 million cases and 685,000 deaths in 2020, breast cancer will eclipse lung cancer as the most frequently diagnosed cancer and rise to the fifth position in the worldwide cancer mortality rate. ALSO READ: Building Healthy Habits Early: Why Schools Must Lead The Fight Against Childhood Obesity Why Self-Breast Self-Examination Matters A breast cancer screening is curated to identify cancer at an early stage, before the cancer becomes palpable. The test for screening is typically performed on asymptomatic patients who are highly susceptible to developing breast cancer, and the screening may not be useful in all women who develop breast cancer. Screening is essential to decrease morbidity and mortality rates, as well as for the early detection of breast cancer . Many methods have been developed to help detect malignant cancer early. When To Perform BSE Women can begin practicing BSE around age 20 and continue throughout life, including during pregnancy and menopause. Ideally, BSE should be done monthly: For menstruating women: A few days after the period ends, when breasts are least tender For non-menstruating women: Choose a consistent day each month For those on hormone therapy: Consult a healthcare provider for timing What To Look For During BSE, be alert for the following symptoms. If any of these changes are noticed, consult a healthcare provider promptly. New lumps or masses Bloody or unusual nipple discharge Swelling or thickening Skin changes like redness, dimpling, or scaliness Pain or changes in nipple direction Enlarged lymph nodes in the armpit How To Perform BSE Breast self- examination involves both visual and physical examination. Below is a guide: 1. Front Of A Mirror Stand with arms at sides and observe both breasts for symmetry, shape, and skin changes Raise arms overhead and repeat the observation Press hands on hips and lean forward to tighten chest muscles, checking for contour changes 2. Lying Down Lie flat with one arm behind the head and a pillow under the shoulder Use the pads of the three middle fingers of the opposite hand to examine the breast. Apply three levels of pressure: light (surface), medium (middle tissue), and firm (deep tissue) Use one of the following patterns to ensure full coverage: Lines: Move fingers up and down across the breast Circles: Start at the outer edge and spiral inward Wedges: Move from the outer edge toward the nipple and back It is important for women to develop habits of being aware of breast self-examination and maintaining breast health. Acquiring knowledge about the process of breast growth can assist individuals in upholding optimal breast health by understanding their own normality and recognising any abnormal alterations. People with advanced detection skills live longer and have a better quality of life. Mammography and CBE are the two diagnostic methods recommended by the WHO. BSE is a secondary approach in the absence of CBE and mammography, despite its effectiveness in raising awareness and detecting breast abnormalities. Maserati MCPura Supercar First Look: Are Indians Buying More Supercars?

It is rare that a car is launched in India so early after its global debut but here is the Maserati MCPura and the Cielo version which have been shown in India just after its debut at the GoodWood Festival of Speed. Maserati is keen to expand and it's new supercar is for the growing rich in India who are increasingly buying these cars. Supercar sales, while still low, have increased over the years owing to a change in consumption pattern, changing economy and a growing appetite for the super rich here to buy high end cars. Importantly, the rich aren't shying away from spending their money with changing culture patterns. In India, we have now more supercars on sale than ever and customers are buying them despite the price-tag running into several crores. The MCPura on the other hand is an evolution of the MC20 supercar and comes with a sharper look while the power on offer is 630bhp courtesy of a 3.0 litre V6 turbo petrol engine. Performance as expected is quick with a 0-100 km/h time of 2.9 seconds. The convertible also has a glass roof and the signature butterfly doors also give it immense presence since for supercars, drama is needed. The interiors are performance focussed with Alcantara and customisation options too. The MCPura costs Rs 4.12cr while the Cielo is Rs 5.12 cr. While it may seem expensive but in comparison to rivals, the price tag is actually slightly less. Demand for these exotic cars have gone up owing to better roads and track days where owners can drive these cars. In India you have numerous supercar makers who have launched their latest offerings and now Maserati also joins the club with its MCPura. On first impressions, the styling is a big draw with its sleek proportions while Maserati claims you can enjoy these cars daily as well in India as well with a focus on being practical enough for our roads. We will see though on how it drives on our roads but for now, here is another option for the super rich to splurge on.

'310 Years Of Experience Needed': Viral Job Posting Has Internet ROFLing Hard

We get it, employers! Experience counts. Especially in tech-focused sectors such as Data Analysis or Data Engineering, you'd need experienced hands who can hit the ground running. Required experience in job descriptions can range from anything between 2 years to 20 years. However, 310 years? A viral job post from Naukri’s E Hire Campaign has gone viral for demanding something truly out of this world: 310 years of experience as a Data Scientist. That's a hilarious typo, to say the least. And as per Internet tradition, the post invited roasts and trolls of all sorts.  The now-infamous listing, shared by Reddit user Bright_Trick8225 on Tuesday, describes the role as one requiring proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and machine learning frameworks. Pretty standard — until you reach the line asking for “310 years of experience as a Data Scientist / Quantitative Researcher / Econometrician.” Data Analyst Positionbyu/Bright_Trick8225 inrecruitinghell 'Damn I only have 309' Naturally, Reddit had a field day. User ragnarok0424 quipped, “Damn I only have 309,” while DragonfruitFit2449 added, “Let's go me too but I'm only 6 months off.” Another user, Turbo_express_Guy, summed it up perfectly with, “Position for Methuselah.” Methuselah is a biblical patriarch and a figure in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, who is claimed to have lived the longest life, dying at the ripe age of 969.  Some took a more forensic approach. erparucca joked, “which keyboard layout had shift+3 to generate the plus sign? Let's find out and we'll know the nationality of who wrote the text ;)” while others theorised that it was simply meant to say “3-10 years.” The thread quickly filled with more tongue-in-cheek remarks. Anxious-Possibility wrote, “Well, time to go grave digging... ⚰️ 🪏,” and tikolman commented, “They are looking for demi-humans.” Meanwhile, Apart_Championship37 concluded, “I guess I'm overqualified for this position.” From Typo To Trending While it’s likely just a typo, the slip has earned the job listing viral fame. In a world where job seekers often complain about unrealistic expectations, this one may have just taken the crown, or perhaps the tombstone.

IPL Franchise Tabled $10 Million Each For Pat Cummins, Travis Head To Ditch International Cricket: Report

According a report by The Age, an Australian Newspaper, Pat Cummins and Travis Head, two of Australia's star players, were offered $10 million (which, from AUD, translates to about 58 crore) each anually, by an unnamed IPL franchise to quit international cricket and only play overseas T20 leagues.  Both Aussies currently play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, which also has sister franchises in South Africa's SA20 and England's The Hundred cricket leagues. In fact, Cummins even captains SRH in the Indian league. It must be noted that the said report did not name which IPL franchise made this reported offer to these players. That said, it did state that both Pat Cummins and Travis Head refused 'politely', as they remain committed to the Australian national team. Reported Offers Spark BBL Privatization Talks While Cummins and Head are said to have declined the reported offer, The Age states that it has triggered talks about whether Australia's marquee T20 league, The Big Bash League, should be privatized, as it would raise salaries to make it more appealing to players. Franchise cricket has been on the rise in recent years, with IPL leading the charge. Many international stars of the sport appear in them year-round when not busy with international duty. For example, Travis Head plays in the IPL, BBL, and has even represented a franchise in the American Major Cricket League. At this moment, he is gearing up to face India at home in an ODI and T20I series.  Pat Cummins, on the other hand, will miss these matches due to injury. Notably, the extent of this injury might even rule him out of The Ashes, a series of five Test matches against England, which start late next month (November 2025). Check out: After India Vs Australia Series, THIS Star Player Likely To Miss The Ashes Too

European Space Agency stunned as asteroid passes dangerously close to Earth, closer than many satellites

An asteroid named 2025 TF recently passed Earth at a very close distance. It flew nearer than many satellites orbiting our planet. The space rock, measuring between 3 to 10 feet, posed no real danger. This event highlights the ongoing challenge of tracking smaller objects in space. Astronomers are continuously monitoring such near-Earth objects to ensure our safety.
