PM Modi Welcomes Israeli Hostage Release: ‘Support President Trump’s Sincere Efforts To Bring Peace’

In a landmark breakthrough bringing an end to over two years of devastating conflict, Hamas on Monday released the final group of hostages held in Gaza, while Israel freed more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners as part of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to welcome the development, writing, “We welcome the release of all hostages after over two years of captivity. Their freedom stands as a tribute to the courage of their families, the unwavering peace efforts of President Trump and the strong resolve of Prime Minister Netanyahu. We support President Trump’s sincere efforts to bring peace to the region.” We welcome the release of all hostages after over two years of captivity. Buses carrying dozens of freed Palestinian prisoners arrived in Ramallah and the Gaza Strip as part of the agreement. Seven Israeli Hostages Reunited With Families As per the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), the first seven Israeli hostages — Eitan Mor, Alon Ohel, Ziv Berman, Gali Berman, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, Omri Miran, and Matan Angrest — have safely crossed into Israel and are now undergoing medical evaluations in southern Israel. Personnel from the IDF Manpower Directorate and medical teams are accompanying the freed hostages, while representatives remain with their families during the emotional reunions. “IDF representatives are accompanying all family members who are waiting at the hospital and continue to provide them with ongoing updates. The IDF is prepared to receive additional hostages who are expected to be transferred to the Red Cross later on,” the force said in a statement. Footage released by the IDF showed the moment the hostages were handed over by Hamas to the Red Cross before crossing into Israel. The statement from Hamas did not specify the timing of the transfer. Illouz was taken from the Nova music festival and succumbed to his injuries in a Gaza hospital due to a lack of medical treatment. Perez, a 22-year-old platoon commander from Yad Binyamin, was killed during combat on October 7, 2023, while Sharabi, 53, was abducted from Kibbutz Be’eri and slain in captivity. The fate of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali agricultural student, had not been confirmed by Israel, which expressed “grave concern” about him. World Leaders Welcome Gaza Ceasefire In a joint summit in Egypt, Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his country’s willingness to assist in monitoring the ceasefire and disarming Hamas. “We stand ready in relation to monitoring the ceasefire and decommissioning Hamas capability and weaponry, and that’s drawing on our experience in Northern Ireland and the IRA, which we dealt with in particular in relation to decommissioning,” he said alongside Qatar’s Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Starmer added that Britain was “ready to play its full part” in ensuring the ceasefire leads to lasting peace. The European Union’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas also hailed the agreement, calling it a “crucial milestone towards peace” and acknowledging that “President Trump made this breakthrough possible.” As more hostages are expected to be released later in the day, emotional footage has emerged of families speaking to their loved ones ahead of their return from captivity. “We are waiting to hug, smell, and breathe our son,” said Avishai David, father of hostage Evyatar David, in an interview with Channel 12. The release and exchange — facilitated with the support of U.S. President Donald Trump — mark the first phase of a wider ceasefire agreement, offering a rare moment of hope for a region long scarred by war.

‘Recognise Palestine’: Israeli MPs’ Protest Disrupts Trump’s Knesset Speech, US Prez Reacts — WATCH

Two members of Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, were escorted out on Monday after they raised posters calling for the recognition of Palestine during United States President Donald Trump’s address. The interruption occurred as Trump spoke in Jerusalem, marking his visit amid the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas and the declaration of a Gaza ceasefire.  The lawmakers identified as Ayman Odeh and Ofer Cassif, both part of a joint Palestinian-Israeli political bloc, displayed posters that read “Recognise Palestine” during the address. Security officials swiftly intervened and removed the two legislators from the hall. The other parliamentarians responded with loud applause, after which Knesset Speaker apologised to Trump. “Sorry about that, Mr President,” he said. Trump quipped in reply, “That was efficient,” drawing another round of claps and chants of his name from the lawmakers. To recognise this simple reality.” He added, “There are two peoples here, and neither is going anywhere.” His colleague Ofer Cassif also shared a message on X, stating that he and Odeh did not “come to disturb, but to demand justice.” Cassif further wrote, “True peace that will save both peoples of this land from destruction will only come with the end of the occupation and apartheid and the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.” He concluded his post with the appeal, “Refuse to be occupiers! Resist the government of bloodshed!” Trump Hails ‘Historic Dawn of a New Middle East’ Resuming his speech after the brief disruption, Trump praised US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and his adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner for their roles in brokering the Gaza ceasefire. He described Witkoff as “Henry Kissinger who doesn’t leak,” referencing the former US Secretary of State known for his diplomatic negotiations. Addressing Israeli lawmakers, Trump said the truce signified a turning point for the region. “And after so many years of unceasing war and endless danger, today the skies are calm, the guns are silent, the sirens are still, and the sun rises on a holy land that is finally at peace, a land and a region that will live, God willing, in peace for all eternity,” he told the Knesset. Adding to that, Trump said, “This is not only the end of a war… This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East.”

Eat Smart, Stay Balanced: How Diet Shapes Your Hormonal Health

(By Dr. Sheetal Jindal) Hormones quietly control the body, shaping energy, mood, reproduction and sleep. Despite that, understanding of hormonal health remains surprisingly limited. Research finds that more than half of women, almost 58 percent, say they have only moderate or limited knowledge of how their hormones function.  ALSO READ: Early Detection Matters: Understanding The Signs And Tests For Breast Cancer Knowledge Gaps And Health Consequences The lack of knowledge frequently leads to delayed diagnosis and treatment, especially for conditions like PCOS and endometriosis, where over half of women wait six months or longer for a diagnosis. In some cases, the wait extends beyond a year, affecting not just physical health but also mental well-being, confidence, and quality of life. Men also go through hormonal shifts that affect metabolism, energy, mood and reproductive health, so this is a key aspect of wellness for everyone. The Role Of Nutrition In Hormonal Health Eating a balanced diet is one of the most effective approaches to supporting hormonal health. The body relies on nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, magnesium, B vitamins and vitamin D to make and regulate hormones properly.  Foods And Habits That Support Balance Healthy fats found in avocados, nuts, seeds and fish supply the raw materials for hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Fiber from whole grains, fruits and vegetables helps clear excess hormones and supports gut health, which is closely tied to hormonal balance. Cutting back on refined sugars, processed foods and trans fats helps control insulin and cortisol, hormones that shape metabolism, the stress response and mood. Eating at regular times, staying well hydrated and including protein rich foods also contribute to steady energy levels and more consistent hormone function. Awareness And Prevention: The Way Forward Raising awareness of the link between diet and hormones is vital. Hormonal imbalances usually develop slowly and often remain unnoticed until symptoms become hard to ignore. With support from a nutrient rich diet and mindful eating habits the body can restore hormonal harmony naturally and strengthen overall well being and resilience for both men and women. ‘Be Nicer Now Bibi’: Trump To Israel’s Netanyahu After Gaza Ceasefire, Issues Warning To Hamas

US President Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “be nicer now” as he addressed lawmakers in the Knesset on Monday, shortly after the United States brokered a ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas. The remark, delivered in Trump’s trademark humour, came as he hailed the agreement as one that “effectively ends the war and opens the door to durable peace” in West Asia. The US President described the truce as “a turning point” in the region’s turbulent history. “You can be nicer now, Bibi-you’re not at war,” Trump said, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by his childhood nickname. “This agreement effectively ends the war and opens the door to durable peace across the Middle East,” he added, while praising both Netanyahu’s leadership and his own role in brokering the deal. Trump praised Netanyahu for his “strength and leadership” while also taking credit for the ceasefire. “Peace is no longer just a hope... it is a reality. Israel, with US help, has won,” he declared, adding that “the world now stands at the dawn of a new Middle East.” Addressing the Israeli Parliament, Trump urged both nations to look beyond the battlefield. “Israel has nothing more to prove through war. The time has come to rebuild Gaza,” he said, calling on Palestinians to “turn forever from the path of terror and violence.” The two leaders have held regular communication throughout the first nine months of Netanyahu’s second term, often discussing the conflicts with Hamas and Iran. Trump recalled his earlier exchange during the Iran standoff, saying, “Get me Bibi,” as he pushed for calm after tensions rose in June. Earlier in the day, Hamas released 20 hostages taken during the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel-seven were freed to Red Cross representatives first, followed by 13 others. In return, Israel released several Palestinian detainees from prisons in the West Bank, in accordance with the truce conditions

RBI Reforms Set To Empower Banks, Unlock More Credit For Indian Economy

Global rating agencies on Monday said the RBI's recent reform package is likely to strengthen the operating environment of banks and provide more room for the banks to keep credit flowing to the broader economy. S&P Global Ratings said the RBI's proposal to implement an expected credit loss (ECL) framework and revised Basel III norms reflects strategic timing, allowing banks to benefit from economic growth prospects. "The implementation of ECL by April 1, 2027, with a five-year transition, will give banks time to fine-tune their models, gather data, and smooth out the impact of ECL provisioning on profitability and capital," it said in a statement. Higher capital ratios anticipated under Basel III reforms can cushion ECL provisions, S&P added. The RBI last week released draft norms on ECL-based provisioning for banks' stressed loans, which will replace the current incurred loss-based norms that banks use to make provisions. The RBI plans to apply the ECL framework from April 1, 2027, moving away from the existing incurred-loss provisioning system and bringing India into line with international standards. Banks will be allowed to smooth out provisioning adjustments until March 2031. Fitch Ratings believes the RBI's recent package of reforms will be broadly positive for the country’s financial sector, with an improved regulatory framework likely to strengthen the bank operating environment, the agency said in a statement. The RBI also proposed several other measures that enhance credit flow to the economy. These include relaxation of risk weights to certain sectors, such as unrated micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and residential real estate. Credit availability will also be eased for large corporates, including for acquisition financing and operational infrastructure projects, S&P said. "We believe the RBI's measures could push credit growth in the Indian banking system toward the upper end of our 11.5-12.5 expectation," said S&P Global Credit Analyst Shinoy Varghese. Relaxation of regulatory guardrails in certain areas could also incentivise some borrowers to pivot toward cheaper bank financing versus markets such as private credit, potentially reshaping credit demand dynamics, S&P said.  (This report has been published as part of the auto-generated syndicate wire feed. Maruti Victoris First Month Sales - How Did It Peform?

The new Maruti Victoris was just launched on September 15, and its first month sales are in. More than 4,000 units of the SUV have been sold so far.  However, Maruti Suzuki already has bagged 25,000 bookings and waiting periods now are for 10 weeks.  Where Can You Buy Maruti's Victoris? The Victoris is sold via the Arena dealerships and was launched at Rs 10.5 lakh starting while the top-end version is Rs 19.9 lakh.  There are CNG, mild hybrid petrol and strong hybrid versions on offer. The Victoris has sold 4,261 units while it is still behind the Grand Vitara which has sold 5,698 units. The Grand Vitara is sold via the Nexa dealerships.  What Features Does Victoris Boast? The Victoris comes with features such as ADAS, ventilated seats, powered boot release, Dolby Atmos and more. Some of these features are new for Maruti Suzuki SUVs. The car has also scored 5 stars in the BCAP and GNCAP crash test ratings. It remains to be seen where the SUV stabilizes in terms of its sales performance and the next few months will showcase that. The fact that it is being sold via the Arena dealerships means more touch points over the Nexa Grand Vitara and it will be targeted with volumes.  This is the second compact SUV by Maruti Suzuki and is aimed to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta which is its main rival so to speak. The Creta though sold 18,000 units last month and is the best selling above 4m SUV in India right now. Maruti Suzuki also aims to increase its SUV sales further, with both, the Grand Vitara and the Victoris, which is now being offered.

India’s Inflation Falls To Eight-Year Low Of 1.54% In September

India’s inflation rate based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined to an over 8-year low of 1.54 per cent in September this year, compared to the same month of the previous year, as prices of food items and fuels turned cheaper during the month, according to figures released by the Ministry of Statistics on Monday. This is the lowest year-on-year inflation after June 2017, and is also lower than the inflation rate of 2.05 per cent for August. Food inflation continued in the negative zone for the fourth consecutive month and was recorded at -2.28 per cent during September, the figures showed. “The decline in headline inflation and food inflation during September is mainly attributed to a favourable base effect and the decline in inflation of vegetables, edible oils, fruits, pulses, cereals and egg. Besides, fuels also turned cheaper during the month,” the official statement said. The inflation outlook for 2025-26 has become more benign due to large favourable base effects combined with the good southwest monsoon, healthy kharif sowing, adequate reservoir levels and comfortable buffer stocks of foodgrains. The GST rate cuts, which kicked in on September 22, are bringing down prices across goods which will result in reducing inflation further in the coming months. The decline in the inflation rate gives the RBI more headroom to continue with a soft money policy by cutting interest rates and injecting more money into the economy to spur growth. The RBI’s monetary policy committee (MPC) on October 1 slashed its forecast for India’s inflation rate for the financial year 2025-26 to 2.6 per cent from 3.1 per cent in August primarily on account of the GST rate cuts and benign food prices. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said, “The recently implemented GST rate rationalisation would lead to a reduction in prices of several items in the CPI basket. Overall, the inflation outcome is likely to be softer than what was projected in the August monetary policy committee resolution, primarily on account of the GST rate cuts and benign food prices.” Addressing journalists after the MPC meeting, Malhotra said that the “overall inflation outlook has turned even more benign in the last few months.” The RBI Governor pointed out that headline CPI inflation declined to its eight-year low of 1.6 per cent year-on-year in July 2025 before rising to 2.1 per cent in August – its first increase after nine months. Benign inflation conditions during 2025-26 so far have been primarily driven by a sharp decline in food inflation from its peak of October 2024. Inflation within the fuel group moved in a narrow range of 2.4-2.7 per cent during June-August. Core inflation remained largely contained at 4.2 per cent in August. Excluding precious metals, core inflation was at 3.0 per cent in August. The RBI Governor further stated that the current macroeconomic conditions and the outlook has opened up policy space for further supporting growth.
