IPL 2026 Auction: Two Mumbai Indians Players Likely To Be Released

After a thrilling IPL season under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, Mumbai Indians (MI) saw their campaign end in Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2025 edition of the tournament. As the team gears up for the 18th edition of the IPL, Mumbai is looking to fine-tune their squad and emerge even stronger. With the retention deadline set for November 15, Mumbai Indians (MI) faces the familiar challenge of balancing experienced players with the need to make room for emerging talent, aiming to build a well-rounded and competitive side for the upcoming season. Deepak Chahar Deepak Chahar was one of the most talked-about names ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction, with Mumbai Indians securing his services for INR 9.25 crore. Fans were excited to see him pair with Trent Boult to form a formidable new-ball combination. However, the former Chennai Super Kings pacer struggled to make the expected impact. The 33-year-old claimed 11 wickets in 14 matches, posting an average of 34.18 and an economy rate of 9.17 - marking only the second time in his IPL career that he finished a season with an economy rate over nine. Injuries also disrupted Chahar’s campaign. A leg injury sidelined him during the crucial Eliminator and Qualifier 2 matches. With the retention and auction strategies in mind, Mumbai Indians may consider releasing the Agra-born seamer in order to bring in a player capable of handling both the new-ball duties and death overs effectively. Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Afghanistan) Mujeeb Ur Rahman joined Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2025 season as an injury replacement, bringing valuable international T20 experience to the team’s spin department. Although he was not part of the initial 2025 auction, he was later drafted in to cover for an injured overseas pacer. With nearly 50 T20Is under his belt, Mujeeb has proven his skill on the international stage. However, limited opportunities in IPL matches and the team’s depth in spin options have placed him on the potential release list ahead of the next season.

Gold Prices Hit Record Rs 1.32 Lakh Just Before Dhanteras, Check Rates Today In Delhi, Mumbai, And More Cities

Gold Price Today: India, the world’s second-largest consumer of gold after China, depends heavily on imports to meet domestic demand, as recycled gold contributes only marginally to total supply. Since gold is traded internationally in US dollars, fluctuations in the rupee-dollar exchange rate directly influence prices in the Indian market. The rupee appreciated 21 paise to 87.75 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday, supported by a softer American currency against major currencies and likely intervention by the Reserve Bank of India. Forex traders said renewed foreign fund inflows and lower crude oil prices boosted investor sentiment further. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 87.91 and then gained ground and touched an early high of 87.75 against the US dollar, registering a gain of 21 paise from its previous close. On Thursday, the rupee appreciated 12 paise to close at 87.96 against the US dollar, registering gains for the second straight session. "After weeks of drifting in uncertain waters, the currency now seems to have found a favourable current -- buoyed by a softer US dollar, returning investor confidence, and the Reserve Bank’s steady hand at the helm," CR Forex Advisors MD – Amit Pabari said. Pabari further noted that a break below 87.50 could open the way towards 86.80–87.00, hinting at more appreciation ahead. On the other side, 88.30–88.40 acts as a sturdy resistance zone. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading lower by 0.16 per cent to 98.17. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, fell 0.26 per cent to USD 60.90 per barrel in futures trade. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) purchased equities worth Rs 997.29 crore on Thursday, according to exchange data. "After weeks of outflows, this return of foreign money is more than just a number — it signals renewed faith in India’s growth story and stability. When capital begins flowing back, currencies often follow the same direction," Pabari added. Meanwhile, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India has implemented a number of free trade agreements with developed nations and is in active dialogue for such pacts with nations including the US, Oman, and the EU. "We have done free trade agreements (FTAs) with many developed countries in the last three years...We are in active dialogue with the US, EU, Chile, Peru, New Zealand, and Oman," the minister told reporters here. 'F**K Trump, Free Palestine': Hackers Hijack PA Systems At US, Canadian Airports

Hackers gained control of public address systems at four airports across Canada and the United States on Tuesday, broadcasting messages praising Hamas and criticising US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The coordinated cyber intrusion briefly disrupted operations at airports in British Columbia, Ontario, and Pennsylvania. Cyberattack Begins In Canada The first reported breach occurred at Kelowna International Airport in British Columbia, where attackers infiltrated an “advertisement streaming service” linked to the airport’s public address network. "The system was briefly compromised and unauthorised content was shared," the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a statement. The agency confirmed that it is investigating the incident with other government bodies but declined to release further details. At Victoria International Airport, also in British Columbia, hackers broadcasted messages and music in a foreign language, a spokesperson told Reuters. The intrusion reportedly exploited vulnerabilities in third-party software connected to the airport’s audio system. "Once the breach was identified, we immediately switched to our internal system to regain control," the spokesperson said. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security is assisting the RCMP and airport authorities in tracing the source of the cyberattack and assessing measures to prevent further breaches. Breach Reported In The United States Similar disruptions were reported in the US at Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed in a social media post on Wednesday that hackers had accessed the airport’s PA system to deliver politically charged messages. Officials did not specify the exact content broadcast, but videos circulating on social media revealed pro-Hamas slogans and strong criticism of Trump and Netanyahu. One such message, aired at Harrisburg, stated, “F** Netanyahu. F*** Trump. Free, free Palestine. Free, free Palestine. Turkish hacker Cyber Islam was here.”* Windsor Airport Targeted In a similar incident, Windsor International Airport in Ontario reported a breach on Tuesday evening. Hackers hijacked both the public address system and the flight information display screens, airport officials confirmed. "Unauthorised images and announcements were broadcast to passengers before the system was restored," airport management said in a statement. The breach was traced to a cloud-based software provider used by the airport, officials noted, adding that normal operations resumed shortly after. Authorities also clarified that there was no evidence of a broader data breach or compromise to critical infrastructure systems. Regional Airports Affected All four affected airports including Kelowna, Victoria, Windsor, and Harrisburg, are classified as regional feeder airports, not major international hubs. For context, Kelowna International Airport handled about 2 million passengers in 2024, while Vancouver International Airport saw over 25 million travellers during the same period.

Why Hyundai's Latest Salvo Is Needed To Battle Tata And Mahindra

The Indian car market has changed and things haven't stayed the same which shows the nature of the new Indian car buyer. It could be said that unlike many years ago, a new Indian car buyer could today look at an SUV as his/her first car and not a hatchback. The Maruti 800 or Alto has been the first car for many but for new India, the same new car is a sub 4m SUV. The changing customer preferences show that value matters and not just being affordable. For Hyundai, its latest ambitious plans to launch several key models and enter new segments is needed to protect its turf with Tata and Mahindra emerging as strong rivals. The big change over the past few years has been how Tata and Mahindra have grown from strength to strengths with new models targeting the SUV space. Hyundai till now has had SUVs but now the focus is bigger with hybrid SUVs and a locally made EV SUV too in the pipeline. In-order to compete with Tata and Mahindra, Hyundai had to have more locally built products to suit our tastes along with more localization. Making an off-roader is an example. It is clear that new SUVs will bring in the sales like the current Creta but Hyundai is now eager to develop more than relying on the Creta and Venue. Local competition has increased over the years and Hyundai's plans are right on time to counter that. We will see the new Venue on sale soon and a possible hybrid SUV in the works as well. Hence, the battle ground that is the Indian automotive market will only mean more choices for the Indian car buyer.

Dreaming Of A New Home This Diwali? Here Are Five Smart Home Loan Tips To Guide Your Purchase

By Atul Monga  Diwali isn’t just about lights, it’s also a time for new beginnings and thoughtful decisions, and for many, it is also a time to take a step toward owning a home. There’s something truly special about celebrating the festival in a space you can call your own.  With the festive season around the corner, buying a property is on top of the minds of many young Indians. Banks and builders are rolling out festive offers, and recent relaxation in GST has lowered construction costs, encouraging developers to offer competitive pricing. With improved affordability across metros and smaller cities, this Diwali could be a practical time to explore home ownership. Here are 5 key points to keep in mind while looking for a home  loan, especially during the festive season. Credit score is key Your credit score plays an important role in determining your home loan eligibility and interest rate. Lenders typically offer lower interest rates to those with stronger credit profiles. Hence, it is important to check your credit report ahead of time, correct any errors and clear outstanding dues. Even a small improvement in your credit score can go a long way when it comes to saving money in the long run. Larger downpayment now, relaxation later While lenders may be willing to finance up to 90 per cent of your property’s value, contributing a bigger chunk upfront can really work in your favor. Let’s say you’re eyeing a home worth Rs 60 lakhs. If you increase your down payment to 30 per cent, you could potentially save around Rs 8 lakhs over time, especially with interest rates hovering around 8.4 per cent.  A larger down payment can reduce your loan burden, cut interest costs and improve your negotiating power with lenders; and festive season offers can make the deal even sweeter. Make sure you Scan Through Debt-To-Income Ratio Lenders generally prefer that your total EMIs don’t exceed more than 40–45 per cent of your monthly income. But with rising credit card usage and UPI transactions, it’s easy to lose track and go over that limit without even realizing it. That’s why it’s important to review your debt-to-income ratio before applying for a home loan. Clearing off smaller debts or credit card dues can improve your loan eligibility and help you stay financially balanced once your home loan EMIs kick in. Factor the new GST 2.0 reforms GST 2.0 reforms have made home more affordable by reducing the construction costs for developers. This means better pricing, especially for the affordable housing segment. For homebuyers, this can reduce the loan burden and when combined with festive offers, it’s a golden opportunity, especially for first-time buyers.   Look Beyond the Festive Hype While festival deals can be tempting with offers like zero processing fees or lower interest rates, these offers usually favour borrowers with solid credit scores. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement, but don’t ignore the fine print.  Watch out for hidden costs like mandatory insurance, prepayment or foreclosure charges, and step-up EMI structures that might impact your finances later on. At the end of the day, it’s not just about the offer, it’s about knowing exactly what you’re signing up for. Always read the terms carefully and ask questions if something isn’t clear. This festive season in particular brings in a unique blend of tradition, supportive government policies, and favorable market conditions making it an ideal time to consider investing in a home. But good timing is just one part of the equation. With thoughtful financial planning, you can turn this opportunity into something truly special: a home to call your own. US Chamber Sues Trump Administration Over $100,000 H-1B Visa Fee, Calls It ‘Unlawful'

The US Chamber of Commerce has taken the Trump administration to court over a newly introduced $100,000 fee on H-1B visa applications, arguing that the steep charge breaches federal law and threatens American firms’ access to skilled global talent. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, is the Chamber’s first major legal challenge against the administration this term. It contends that the new fee violates the Immigration and Nationality Act, which requires that visa charges reflect only the actual cost of processing applications rather than serve as a revenue or deterrent measure. The H-1B visa program allows U.S. employers to recruit highly skilled foreign professionals, particularly in technology, engineering, education, and healthcare. The program is widely used by Silicon Valley companies, with Indian nationals making up roughly three-fourths of all H-1B approvals. US Chamber Sues Trump Administration Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President of the Chamber, described the new fee as “prohibitively expensive,” especially for startups and smaller enterprises. Bradley noted that while the Chamber supports the administration’s broader goals of economic growth and stronger borders, sustained expansion depends on ensuring that American businesses have access to the skilled workforce they need, as per Times of India. The Chamber reaffirmed its backing for targeted immigration reforms to make the H-1B process more efficient and transparent. It also warned that without sufficient access to foreign talent, gains from recent economic policies — including tax cuts, deregulation, and energy expansion — could be at risk. Before the fee increase, the average cost of an H-1B application was around $3,600. The new $100,000 charge applies to fresh petitions and is set to last for one year, though it could be extended, as per The Hindu. Concluding its statement, the Chamber said it remains open to working with both Congress and the administration to develop a fair and predictable system for employers who depend on the H-1B program to fill critical roles in the U.S. economy.
